About Us
Summerwinds Quilts is an independent teaching studio and pattern design business founded in 2004.
A variety of classes are held each term in a sunroom with views of the flower and vegetable gardens, plus the “Chicken Palace”. Our emphasis is on creating a fun, relaxing place for you to come and sew. Tea and treats are always available, as is our undivided attention!Tracy Byers, owner, Summerwinds Quilts
"I've been a quilter for over 20 years and a teacher for the last five years. I love guiding people through the creative processes of quilting, from choosing fabrics to learning new skills. Here at my studio I try to create a "mini-retreat" environment, a place to come and indulge yourself in your quilting and friendships.
I also teach in several local quilt shops such as Jannilou's Creations and Grandma's Attic, as well as the Tater Patch in southern Oregon. I have displayed my quilts in many local venues including The Benton County Historical Museum, local banks and doctor's offices, and will be a featured artist during Quilts in the Garden 2007.
Cathy Cunningham
Cathy made her first quilt in 1976 in a high school home economics class and has loved quilting ever since. She especially enjoys the design process and seeing a quilt pattern emerge as it is pieced. She loves working with fabric, and is particularly drawn to clear, rich and bright colors. She has been teaching since 1999, and enjoys helping quilters of all levels add new skills, gain confidence in their abilities, and find joy in the process of quilting.
